Child think no presentBy Rob Becka

If you don’t celebrate your birthday, do you still grow older?

That was the question posed by two different studies – one performed in Israel, and the other at the University of Texas. In each study, children aged 4-9 heard the story of a three-year-old who wasn’t able to celebrate his special day. Afterward, researchers asked whether the child would still become a four-year-old despite the lack of a celebration. The result?

As far as kids are concerned, birthdays matter.

Not only did most of the younger children (ages 4 and 5) believe that a birthday celebration is what physically causes them to age, but some of them also made it quite clear that without  presents, a birthday can’t be called a birthday at all!

Just one more reason every child deserves a happy birthday!
