A Day At The Fair
August 19th, 2009 | Giving, News, Volunteers
A county fair means different things to different people. To some, it’s the thrill of being stopped at the top of the ferris wheel, and to others it’s those pronto pups and fair food that only appear in the summer. For a group of nonprofit organizations that serve Dakota County, the fair was an opportunity to tell their story to fair-goers and a chance to offer a hands-on volunteer experience to fill birthday bags for Cheerful Givers.
Sunday, August 16 was the second annual “Honoring Volunteers Day” at the Dakota County Fair, and participating organizations, such as ours, had an opportunity to honor volunteers with treats and prize drawings. A bonus to this year’s event was the great music provided by Del Barber.
