Gray and rainy days abound throughout the year in Seattle. Therefore, Seattle residents love, cherish and typically take full advantage of gorgeous sunny days.  That’s why the turnout at the July 19th Puget Sound Community Blitz was so astounding. Seventy-five volunteers ranging in age from 5 to 67 gave up part of a blissfully sunny 75 degree Sunday afternoon to help fill 504 birthday bags. Special thanks go to Cub Scout Pack 551 and the Newport School Key Club for providing lots of volunteers.

This event pushed the 3.5 year Puget Sound birthday bag total to 4,025. We look forward to hitting 5,000 in the next six months or so.  The bags were donated to Hopelink, where they will be distributed to families in need. View photos from the event on Flickr.
