Celebrating Cheerful Givers Day
April 5th, 2009 | Birthdays, Events, Press
Cheerful Givers Day 2009 was celebrated in style at the Mall of America on Saturday, April 4th at The Great Minnesota Birthday Party, thanks to Jearlyn Steele, our fabulous MC, celebrities including Matt Blair & John Turner, former MN Vikings, great tunes by Jeff James and John Delsalva, singer/guitarists, Klondike Kates, Ambassadors from the Aquatennial, U of M athletes and Bubba Gump singers. Not to mention our “cast of characters” TC Bear (MN Twins mascot), Nordie (MN Wild mascot), Shrimp Louie (Bubba Gump mascot) and Bremer Eagle (from Bremer Banks).
A highlight of the afternoon was the “Happy Birthday Singing Contest” where students from Beacon Academy, the University of St. Thomas Women’s Choir and Partnership Academy competed for Mall of America amusement park passes. Congratulations to Beacon Academy who got the most donations.
There were also some great coloring contest winners, prize drawings, games, and cupcakes to enjoy. The afternoon ended with a stage full of singers who dedicated their version of Happy Birthday to kids everywhere who don’t get to celebrate their birthday. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the 50+ volunteers who made it all happen along with our sponsors Bremer Bank, Thrivent Financial and Dakota Electric! Hope to see everyone again next year. Meanwhile you can check out some of the photos.
