University of Washington Employees Create 300 Birthday Bags
November 18th, 2008 | Events, News, Volunteers

Nearly 50 staff and faculty at the University of Washington recently filled 300 birthday bags at a noon time blitz in Seattle. The event was sponsored by the UW’s Combined Fund Drive office, in conjunction with their monthly Meet the Charities series. Volunteers represented various academic departments, student life units, administrative offices, and the UW Med Center. Everybody seemed to have a good time and several volunteers expressed interest in hosting an event in their UW department. The bags were delivered to agencies in Tacoma, Bothell, and Bellevue.
The festive blitz was a wonderful way to celebrate the three-year anniversary of the Cheerful Givers expansion site in Seattle. Since November 2005, 2,650 less fortunate children in the Puget Sound area have been able to celebrate their birthday thanks to the generosity of several hundred volunteers!

Looks like a huge and successful event! So many toy bags filled — just THINK of all the kids that were positively impacted with a birthday gift! Go Washington!
