Not long ago I learned about the virtual world called Second Life where 2.5 million people have visited and often return. Today’s Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper includes an article “Reality Growing in Virtual World” which explains how businesses are making use of this world for meetings, training, sales and research. They also say “it’s for people who are experimenting and pushing the boundaries.” Cheerful Givers recently entered Second Life with a booth in a mall which was a donation from Bill Nissim at iBranz with the hope that people in this other world will also see a need and make a donation. He cleverly designed bright yellow t-shirts which are given out free to the avatars who visit the booth. Someday we also hope to have a virtual walk there as we “push our boundaries” in an effort to raise needed funds.Š
